This was a conversion in order to lay the cross channel fuel pipe ("PLUTO") during WW2

The Club's Scale Section Captain couldn't resist a short outing.

The next Portsmouth Model Ship Display was a re-enactment of the Battle of Trafalgar

The Models were brought to the Mast Pond...

...and prepared for battle.

The Model Ship Weekend was organised to mark the 250 year anniversary of Lord Nelson's birth.

The display attracted a big audience

Part of the French Fleet

HMS Victory, Nelson's Flagship

HMS Ajax, a "Third-Rate" ship of the line.

"Third-Rate" refered to the number of guns carried; these ships were more manoeuvrable than the larger ships.

But still had enough fire power to sink an opponent. Ajax caught fire and sank two years after Trafalgar.

The Battle commences.

In the actual Battle the British Fleet attacked in two lines...

sailing at right angles to the combined French and Spanish Fleet
