The Future!

Many of our members are enjoying model boating during their retirement. In the past, quite a few of us have been to sea on real ships, either on the "grey funnel line" (the Royal Navy), or on other working ships. Some of us still sail yachts or sailing dinghies, and we all have that continuing fascination with ships, boats, and the sea. Indeed some of our past experiences are described on our Ships and Sailing links page.

However, we need to pass that fascination on to the next generation. Here are a few examples of where we hope we are succeeding, you can see more photos of the featured events on our Club Events photo galleries page.

Lymington Lifeboat Day 2009

A potential RNLI crew member at the Lymington Lifeboat Day. With the Inshore Rescue Boat "Victor 'Danny' Lovelock" in her safe hands the SRCMBC had the run of the Lifeboat House for their exhibition!

Calshot 2009 Lifeboat Day

The Lifeboat Station created a model boat pond for us and SRCMBC member Chris Chattaway devoted most of the day to coaching new radio control enthusiasts. Meanwhile "Stormy Sam" looks on!

The 2009 Highcliffe Exhibition

At the 2009 Highcliffe Exhibition we had a computer set up with a copy of this web site. Of all the people who visited the show, this was the person who explored the web site most thoroughly!

Lymington Life Boat Day, 2008

Fascination at the Lymington Lifeboat day: is it steam or is smoke coming out of the North Sea Herring Drifter's funnel?
Hopefully this new recruit (here shown steering the Lymington Life Boat) will become a lifeboat crew (or at least a RNLI supporter) in future years.

June 2008 Steering Competition

Luke Griggs celebrates coming 2nd in the Richard Graham steering competition held in June, 2008, in his own manner! The Griggs family have a very strong track record in the steering competitions.
